Unlike the longer Push to Open sign designed for push-bar hardware, this marking installs behind a conventional door handle, making it appropriate where the handle itself must remain visible as part of the egress path.
Installation
Install the door handle marking behind the door handle so the luminous field remains visible around the hardware and the PUSH instruction can be readily seen.
Foam tape strips aid installation. Depending on the mounting surface or application, silicone adhesive may also be used. Follow the installation guide and confirm that the marking does not interfere with door operation.
Compliance
The Photoluminescent PUSH Door Handle Marking meets the UL 1994 Standard for Luminous Egress Path Marking Systems and is ETL listed to UL 924.
2024 IBC Section 1025.2.6.2 requires at least 16 square inches of luminous material behind, immediately adjacent to, or on qualifying door handles or escutcheons within required luminous egress paths. At 6"H x 4"W, the marking provides 24 square inches of photoluminescent material.
NFPA 101 Life Safety Code also addresses luminous door hardware marking, including marking stripes used to identify hardware that releases the latch. Confirm the edition and requirements adopted for your facility with the authority having jurisdiction.
