The International Fire Code asserts that NFPA signs must be installed within the stairwell of your medical building, nursing home, senior living facility, and hospital. These NFPA safety signs identify your stairwell, indicate where the exit level is located, and state whether or not there is roof access. All facilities with stairwells are required to have NFPA signage, but if your building has more than three floors, your stairway safety signs must be photoluminescent.
Please note that any NFPA signage that is not photoluminescent is not approved for healthcare buildings within New York City.
