If your medical building is located in New York City, elevator ID signs may be required. These elevator identification signs must be posted above NYC elevator evacuation plans, and their purpose is to inform occupants of the floors an elevator serves. For instance, a bank of elevators marked ‘A’ may serve floors 1 - 10, and another bank of elevators marked ‘B’ may serve floors 11 - 20.
