Wayfinding Signs

Wayfinding signs are some of the most important signs in any healthcare facility. They serve absolutely everyone involved with the day to day operation of the business, and they serve every visitor and patient even more. It's far too easy to get lost in most healthcare facilities, because they are so large and have so many distinct zones and wings. It can be intensely frustrating for visitors and patients, not to mention administrators and hospital workers, to get lost inside of a building. That is why directional signs from HSI are so important to the hospitals that use them; they help people find their way, get what they were looking for, connect with patients, and, of course, get in and out as fast as possible. For administrators and workers, the benefits are the same, with the added bonus of dealing with much less frustration from visitors who find the healthcare facility hard to navigate in.

There are several types of directional signs, and some of the most popular and important are interior wayfinding signs. These signs are the ones that help people to get around in enclosed building spaces. Often these spaces have become labyrinthine, especially if the facility is an older one that has had to add on a lot of buildings, wings, and hallways. Our interior wayfinding signs are perfect for this kind of navigation, because they give a clear map of the viewers surroundings, and they are highly adaptable when it comes to symbols, names, and numbers. While our signs can be put in more outside locations like parking garages, usually the greatest need for these types of signs is within the walls of the healthcare facility. People who are looking for the X-Ray room, or the fourth floor, or the elevator bank, or even a specific office with a specific number can find what they are looking for when they see one of our well-placed, attractive, and crystal clear signs.

There are many different types of interior wayfinding signs. Some of the most popular use inserts, where the names, directions, and numbers can be changed out over time based on how the physical layout of the healthcare building changes. These types of signs are good for directory type purposes, for grand scale orientation. Some signs can and should be permanent. Signs that point the way to the elevator, for instance, or toward pediatrics. These signs help people to find more permanent fixtures of the healthcare facility. Directional signs are important at every level of the facility. On every floor, they can help people find specific offices, and they often include actual names of doctors and administrators, or room numbers for actual offices. Signs with a bigger scope, like a directional sign situated in a main lobby that points the way toward the disparate parts of a large building, are less specific, and often use arrows or directional symbols to indicate which direction you need to go. Both signs are extremely valuable. And, of course, there are exterior (which we don't really do) and interior wayfinding signs, which is what we're great at.

HSI is committed to bringing the best and most up to date technology, as well as years of experience and handcrafted excellence, to bear on the art of sign making. Our signs are clear, laser precise, easy to read, and they serve a vital purpose in many healthcare facilities. We believe in making an excellent product to aid an excellent service, and healthcare signs give us that opportunity. Signs are not the first thing you think about when you think about healthcare facility organization, but they'd be one of the first things you'd miss if they weren't there. And that is one sign of an effective, valuable product.
